A movie based on Mithali Raj in the offing
What's the story
Viacom18 Motion Pictures announced that a biopic based on the incredible journey of Indian women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj will soon be made.
The film rights have been acquired by the studio which had in the past produced big screen adaptations like Mary Kom, and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
Raj hopes that the movie inspires young girls to take up sports as a career.

Mithali Raj made her ODI debut at the age of 16 against Ireland in 1999, when she went on to score a 100, making her the youngest centurion in Women's ODI.

Mithali also held record for highest test innings score with a 214 run knock against England, in 2002, at the age of 19. Her record was only broken by Pakistan's Kiran Baluch with a score of 242 in 2004.

Awards and honors
Mithali Raj is the first Indian to lead the women's national team to ICC ODI World Cup finals twice - in 2005 and most recently in July 2017, when they lost the championship to England.
For her contribution to the sport, Mithali has been honored with the Arjuna Award, and Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award.
