Bhuvneshwar Kumar becomes first bowler with 150 wickets for SRH
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has completed 150 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. The right-arm seamer unlocked this achievement in Match 35 of IPL 2024 against Delhi Capitals. He dismissed DC opener David Warner to touch the 150-wicket mark for SRH. This was his match's only wicket as SRH defeated DC by 67 runs while defending a record 266/7.
Bhuvneshwar leads by miles
As mentioned, Bhuvneshwar is the first bowler to complete 150 wickets for SRH in the IPL. Moreover, he remains the only bowler with over 100 IPL wickets for the Orange Army. Rashid Khan, who now plays for Gujarat Titans, follows Bhuvi with 93 wickets. Siddarth Kaul and T Natarajan are the only other bowlers to have taken over 50 IPL scalps for SRH.
His journey with SRH
Bhuvneshwar has been with SRH since the 2014 IPL edition. He has emerged as a wicket-taker, especially in the Powerplay. Bhuvneshwar bagged the Orange Cap as SRH went on to win the IPL in 2016. He took 23 wickets in 17 games at 21.30. The right-arm pacer now has 150 IPL scalps from 136 matches at 26.40 for SRH.
Fourth-most wickets in IPL
Bhuvneshwar started his IPL journey with Royal Challengers Bengaluru but didn't feature for them. He also played for the now-defunct Pune Warriors India before getting picked by SRH. During the DC match, Bhuvneshwar also became the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the IPL. He broke a tie with Amit Mishra, who took 173 scalps. Bhuvi is only behind Yuzvendra Chahal, Dwayne Bravo, and Piyush Chawla.
Notable records for Bhuvneshwar
Between 2011 and 2013, Bhuvneshwar took the third-most wickets (24) for PWI. He remains the only bowler with more than 60 powerplay (first six overs) wickets in IPL history. Bhuvneshwar has bowled the most number of dot balls in the IPL (1,645+). Interestingly, the next-best seamer on this list is India's Umesh Yadav, with 1,252 dot balls.
