Beuran Hendricks: News
Having begun his first-class career for the Western Province in South Africa, Beuran Hendricks came calling at the South African international setup with a stellar 2012-13 season in first-class cricket. He took a mouth-watering 35 wickets in just seven matches. Although categorized as a left-hand medium pacer, Hendricks’s ability to ball consistently at 140 kmph and above while swinging the ball did not go unnoticed. His performance against Australia A and India A teams for South Africa A in 2013 earned him his first call-up to the national team. Hendricks’s international debut in T20Is came against Australia in 2014. After an impressive 28-wicket season for the Cape Cobras in the Ram Slam T20 Challenge, he was picked for the 2014-15 Indian Premier League (IPL) by the Kings XI Punjab for Rs. 1.8 crore. After not being in the limelight for a few years, Hendricks’s performance for the Highveld Lions in the Cricket South Africa (CSA) 4-day Franchise Series earned him his debut in ODIs in 2019 against Pakistan. He was also part of the South Africa squad for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup replacing the injured Dale Steyn.
