The upcoming IPL edition is all set to commence with Chennai Super Kings taking on the defending champions Mumbai Indians on March 29. The yellow army who fell short of one runs to win previous season's final, has always fancied chasing with captain cool Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the disposal. Thala Dhoni finishes off with a maximum
Batting first, blistering knocks by Quinton de Kock and AB de Villiers steered Royal Challengers Bangalore to a mammoth 205/8. CSK were reeling at 74-4 when skipper Dhoni joined Ambati Rayudu at the crease. The duo shared a 101-run stand before the latter got dismissed in the 18th over. Although Dwayne Bravo's 14-run cameo helped CSK, Dhoni got them home with a last-ball six.
Bravo's bravado does it for Chennai
In the 2018 IPL opener, CSK were nearing a crushing defeat when Dwayne Bravo stole a victory for them out of nowhere. Mumbai Indians finished on 165/4 at Wankhede's lively track. Defending the total, the likes of Hardik Pandya and Mayank Markande reduced CSK to 84/6. Bravo's 30-ball 68 did the trick for CSK, while Kedar Jadhav finished it with a winning boundary.
When Gayle storm was overshadowed by Faf du Plessis
Chis Gayle clobbered 6 sixes during his 68-run knock with RCB posing 205/8 at the end of 20 overs. Faf du Plessis scored a quickfire 71 despite Murali Vijay's early dismissal. The likes of MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo and Albie Morkel kept the scorebaord ticking. CSK required four runs off the final ball when Ravindra Jadeja sealed a stunning victory.
Dhoni steals a miraculous victory at Dharamsala
Kings XI Punjab posted a mighty 193 after CSK put them into bat. Shaun Marsh smashed 88 off 57, while Irfan Pathan contributed 44 towards the end. Suresh Raina and S. Badrinath shared a crucial 62-run stand after the CSK openers departed. 16 runs were required off the final over. Dhoni smashed a four and two giant sixes to finish it off in style.
