Despite chasing a modest 250, New Zealand lost Rachin Ravindra early on.
Chakravarthy didn't let the Kiwis get away with a partnership thereafter, dismissing Will Young for 22.
While Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in during middle overs, Chakravarthy dismissed Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, and finally Matt Henry.
Chakravarthy conceded 42 runs in 10 overs as the Kiwis perished for 205.

Mohammed Shami bowled a lethal spell against Bangladesh in India's opener of the ongoing tourney in Dubai.
He made his mark by sending opener Soumya Sarkar back for a duck.
Shami then dismissed Mehidy Hasan Miraz back and later got Jaker Ali as his 200th ODI wicket.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Taskin were his other two victims as the pacer claimed mind-boggling figures of 5/53 from 10 overs.
His brilliance restricted Bangladesh to 228/10. India comfortably chased down the target.

Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood made his Champions Trophy debut in 2017.
He delivered a phenomenal spell against New Zealand, claiming 6/52 from nine overs in Birmingham.
Hazlewood dismissed Martin Guptill in the powerplay before dismantling the middle and lower order.
His brilliance meant NZ went from 254/3 to 291/10. However, the match was called off due to rain.
This spell remains the second-best bowling figures in a Champions Trophy innings.
