Shikhar gets more share of BCCI's revenue than Kohli?
As per BCCI's website, Shikhar Dhawan received Rs 87.76 lakh as a share of tax-free portion of BCCI's gross revenue, more than skipper Virat Kohli, who received Rs 83.07 lakh. The duo is followed by Rahane with Rs 81.06 lakh, while the fourth place is shared by Ashwin and Rohit Sharma. Five former women cricketers received a one time payment of Rs 30 lakh.
How does BCCI carry out its payments?
The richest cricket board in the world, Board of Control for Cricket in India, has been under the scanner of the Supreme Court after a serious betting scandal hit the Indian Premier League in 2013. The finances of the board are questioned every now and then by various people. Let us have a look at how BCCI manages its payments.
Who approves the payments?
The Committee of Administrators has given instructions to the BCCI that all the payments should jointly be approved by the joint-secretary and the CEO of the board. However, if one of them fails to approve the same or rejects the proposal within three days, the matter is taken to the CoA, which has the final say in the matter.
How is player's fees calculate?
BCCI has put Indian cricket team players into three different categories, based on which the players are paid annually. Players playing in all the three formats or bring experience on the table are put in Grade A category Grade B and C consist of players playing one or two formats of the game and are categorized based on experience and their current form.
In case of an injury?
BCCI has started a new policy where it provides insurance to the players. If a player is not able to play in a match due to an injury, he will just miss out on the match fee, and not the annual contract fee.
What about payments other than players' fees?
Apart from players' fee, BCCI pays the state associations for hosting various cricket matches including the international, domestic and IPL matches. The BCCI also pays the commentators, various hotels and resorts where the players stay and various other companies who provide digitization services to the BCCI. What payments did BCCI make last month?
The official website of the board, BCCI.TV has put out the list of payments above Rs 25 lakh done by the board in the month of May 2017. According to the list, major part of the payment has been done to the players who played in New Zealand, England and Australia series. Apart from that, payments were made to domestic kit providers amongst others.
Nehra given injury compensation
Veteran pacer Ashish Nehra has been given a compensation of Rs 1.52 crore for his injury during the IPL 2016. This has been given under BCCI's insurance policy for the players.
