Rajkot or Hyderabad likely venues for India's first Day/Night Test
Team India is all set to play its first ever Day/Night Test, with Rajkot or Hyderabad likely to get the nod to host the game. Virat Kohli's team would play the D/N Test against West Indies in October or November this year. As per media reports, the BCCI is awaiting a clearance from the SC appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) in this matter.
India gear up for first ever Day/Night Test
The BCCI held its Tours and Fixtures Committee meeting on Saturday, where they decided to go ahead with the idea of hosting D/N Test. India have never been involved in a pink-ball Test and the match against Windies would see them entering the newest 'format'.
Controversy between CoA and BCCI regarding Day/Night Test
Last month, the CoA pulled up BCCI's acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary for initiating a move to schedule India's first Day/Night Test against the West Indies. The CoA chief Vinod Rai accused the BCCI of taking this step without consulting the members of the CoA. Rai even laid out a system for the BCCI, which needs to be kept in mind, before hosting D/N Tests.
Nations that have played D/N Tests
Australia and New Zealand played the first ever Day/Night Test in Adelaide on November 27, 2015. Since then all ICC Full Member nations have played D/N Tests barring India and Bangladesh. A total of 8 D/N Test matches have been held till now.
