Mayank Yadav could debut for India in Bangladesh T20Is: Report
India's pace-bowling sensation Mayank Yadav is on the verge of getting his big break in international cricket. The Indian selectors have included him in a special training camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, ahead of the T20I series against Bangladesh. Despite facing injuries early in his career, Yadav has made a strong comeback and is now in the mix for selection into the Indian setup.
Yadav's impressive performance and recovery
Mayank first made waves with cricket fans during IPL 2024, where he bagged six wickets in just two matches and clocked an impressive speed of 156.7km/h. Despite facing some injury hiccups, he's been hitting the training ground hard at the NCA. An official from the BCCI told TOI, "Mayank hasn't complained of any pain for the last month or so. He is bowling full tilt at the NCA."
Special training camp and future plans
The special training camp at the NCA is designed for players who have been out of action but are being considered for the T20I squad. Other cricketers expected to attend include Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, and Abhishek Sharma. "Mayank is bowling close to 20 overs with the white ball in three separate spells in a day," revealed an official from BCCI.
BCCI's strategy for Yadav's career
The BCCI and selectors are working on a plan to slowly bring Mayank back into the team. Even though he hasn't been given the green light for the Ranji Trophy, he's still in the mix for the three-match Test series against New Zealand at home. An official said, "The selectors don't want him to be restricted to the T20 format. Therefore, they want to carefully monitor his progress."
Yadav's potential debut and future prospects
Fans are really looking forward to seeing Mayank make his debut, especially since he's already had a stint with India's head coach Gautam Gambhir and bowling coach Morne Morkel at the Lucknow Super Giants. Ajit Agarkar and the selection committee see a lot of potential in him and want to add him to their pace-bowling lineup for the long haul.
