BCCI announces cash rewards for domestic cricket's top performers
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced a new initiative to reward exceptional performances in domestic cricket. This move, confirmed by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, is aimed at recognizing and motivating talent at the grassroots level. The board hopes that these monetary rewards will boost morale and inspire players to excel in domestic tournaments.
Reward system to cover all domestic cricket tournaments
The reward system will cover all domestic cricket tournaments, including those for women and juniors. "We are introducing prize money for the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament in all Women's and Junior Cricket tournaments under our Domestic Cricket Programme," Shah stated. He further added that cash rewards will also be given to the Player of the Match in senior men's Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments.
BCCI's initiative coincides with upcoming domestic cricket season
The announcement of the reward system comes just before the start of the domestic cricket season in September. The season will commence with the Duleep Trophy, followed by the Irani Cup in October. The prestigious Ranji Trophy is set to begin on October 11, while Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy will take place in November and December, respectively.
BCCI's commitment to enhancing domestic cricket
The introduction of cash rewards is a significant step by the BCCI toward uplifting domestic cricket. It aims to provide not only a platform for young and emerging talent but also tangible rewards for their performances. This initiative underscores the board's dedication to nurturing and celebrating cricketing talent across all levels. The move is expected to incentivize players to elevate their game, further enriching India's domestic cricket scene.
