BCCI rubbishes reports of CoA reprimanding Virat Kohli via memo
It was reported earlier today that the Committee of Administrators, appointed by the Honorable Supreme Court, had sent a message to the skipper of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli, that he needs to be 'humble'. It was believed that this was in response to Kohli asking a fan to leave India. However, the BCCI has clarified that the news report is false.
Which incident was believed to have led CoA warn Kohli?
Kohli had recently launched his own mobile application on which he was reading comments on his social media accounts from fans. One fan said that he did not like Kohli's batting and preferred other English and Australian batsmen, and this is what possible 'irked' Kohli. He said that the fan should leave India if he likes foreigners more than players from his own country.
What did BCCI state in the press release?
The BCCI, in the statement, referred to the report (by Mumbai Mirror) which stated that the Committee of Administrators has asked Kohli to conduct himself with "humility". The Indian board clarified that, "Contrary to the media report, the BCCI after consulting with the team management would like to rubbish the report and classify it as baseless."
Ravi Shastri singing to a different tune?
In other news, head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri, seems to have retracted back on his "India can be the best traveling side" comment which he had made before India's tour in England. Now he has said that "no team is weak at home", and took a dig at non-believers for always criticizing India for their overseas performances.
