All about bad blood between BCCI and CoA
The BCCI and the SC-appointed Committee of Administrators are at loggerheads over a proposed Special General Meeting this month. The BCCI is unhappy with the CoA, the way it has represented India's stand at ICC. Moreover, the Indian board hasn't liked the decisions taken by CoA regarding the National Cricket Academy. These issues are set to be discussed by the BCCI in the SGM.
CoA issues a notice to the BCCI
The BCCI members have come together to demand a SGM this month. On the other hand, the CoA has issued a notice stating that by holding a meeting they will be violating the directives issued in March. Earlier this year, the CoA had issued a 12-point directive for the BCCI, which stated that no meeting can be held without its approval.
BCCI to go ahead with its SGM
Despite the notice issued by the CoA, the BCCI will still be going ahead with their proposed meeting on June 22. The BCCI feels that the role of CoA is only to oversee the day-to-day administration and ensure that the recommendations of Lodha Committee are implemented. The BCCI has raised questions over the continuous 'interference' by the CoA.
BCCI accuses CoA over a number of issues
As per the board, nowhere it is mentioned by the SC that the BCCI cannot hold meetings. Some members have stated that the CoA is violating SC directives. According to BCCI, the CoA's decisions have resulted in loss of revenue and reputation. The BCCI has accused the committee of taking random decisions regarding NCA. Commercial rights have been sold without keeping office-bearers in loop.
