BCCI vs CoA: Amitabh Chaudhary hits out at SC-appointed CoA
What's the story
The BCCI is miffed with the Committee of Administrators (CoA), appointed by the Supreme Court, for too much interference on matters.
The cricket board feels that the CoA's prime work is to implement the Justice Lodha Committee reforms but instead the Vinod Rai-led administrators are dwindling with routine matters.
BCCI's acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary has lashed out at the CoA in a fresh letter.
The cause
How did it get to this?
The relationship between BCCI and CoA started to sour when the latter questioned Chaudhary's attempt to host a Day/Night Test match against the West Indies in October 2018.
Things went further on the rougher side when Chaudhary was asked to ratify a new appointment decided by the Committee.
This, in turn, hasn't gone well with the BCCI.
Hitting back
Chaudhary fires at Rai & Co.
According to media report, Amitabh Chaudhary stated in his letter that he wasn't aware of the selection of a GM when the letter of appointment arrived on his desk.
He lashed out at Rai for not keeping any of the office bearers of the BCCI in loop regarding the appointment.
According to him, the Lodha recommendations do not have such positions.
Information
Who is the appointed person?
The person appointed as GM (Marketing) by the CoA is a woman called Priya Gupta. She has been asked to join prior to the Indian Premier League 2018 season. Interestingly, the person wasn't in the initial list of candidates.
Information
Clarification on matters of cricket
Chaudhary clarified the need of hosting a D/N Test at home, since all other nations have adopted this format. Moreover, he said that since the cricketers are already playing Day/Night ODIs and T20s, the issue of body clock doesn't arise.
