BCB chief asks Mushfiqur to reconsider touring Pakistan
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan on Tuesday urged Mushfiqur Rahim to reconsider his decision for the Pakistan tour next month. Hassan told reporters that Mushfiqur had not informed the board of his decision about the final leg. Bangladesh will travel to Pakistan for the final leg of their tour on April 3. They will play an ODI and the second Test in Karachi.
Mushfiqur eariler refused to play in Pakistan
Earlier, Mushfiqur had announced that he will not will not be joining his team on its tour to Pakistan due to his security reasons. However, Hassan stated that a contracted player should keep his nation above everything else. "I hope he will go to Pakistan. Every contracted player should go. Family is important for everybody, but country is more important," Hassan asserted.
Bangladesh lacked the experience of Mushfiqur
Bangladesh's Pakistan tour has been horrific so far. They were beaten 0-2 in the T20I series before facing a defeat in the first Test by an innings and 44 runs. The visitors missed the services of Mushfiqur Rahim big time across formats. There are speculations that he might consider touring Pakistan this time around, considering Bangladesh's poor show in T20Is and Tests.
Bangladesh trounced Zimbabwe at home
The Mominul Haque-led side made a massive turnaround as they thrashed Zimbabwe by an innings and 106 runs in the only Test at Dhaka. Mominul played a terrific 132-run knock, while Mushfiqur scored his third double ton, the most by a Bangladesh batsmen in Tests. He remained unbeaten as Bangladesh gained a 295-run lead. Zimbabwe were bundled out for 189 in the second innings.
Bangladesh could make a turnaround in the second half
Bangladesh will now be eyeing the second leg of Pakistan tour which will resume following the completion of PSL. The one-off ODI will be played on April 3, while the second Test will commence on April 5. Although Pakistan are deemed favourites for the ODI, the visitors have a chance to bounce back in the Test in order to level the series 1-1.
