BPL's history with match-fixing controversies
Notably, match-fixing isn't new to BPL, which has been marred by such controversies since its inception in 2012.
Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful received an eight-year ban (with three years suspended) from the BPL anti-corruption tribunal for match and spot-fixing during the 2013 season.
This scandal compelled the BCB to postpone the 2014 edition of the tournament.
