A new form of toss to be implemented in BBL
The Big Bash League season 8 is all set to kick-off on December 19, when Brisbane Heat take on Adelaide Strikers. This time we are in store for a new change. Organizers are set to introduce a fresh form of toss and do away with the traditional coin toss. Here is more on the same.
#BBL8: What is the new form of toss?
According to reports, the BBL is set to use bat toss instead of the traditional coin toss. The home captain will be flipping the bat in the air and his counterpart will need to call. It has to be either mountain or plain. If the away skipper calls right, then he will be given the chance to decide on what he wants to do.
Excitement surrounding toss in BBL 8
There is a lot of intensity regarding the new form of toss. Cricket Australia's head of BBL, Kim McConnie seemed excited. "For me, it's a great moment which reflects what BBL is about. If you think about a coin toss it's not really what kids do. If you're out in the backyard what do you do? You toss the bat to decide," said McConnie.
Adelaide Strikers go into new season as favorites
Adelaide Strikers are the defending champions and go into the 2018-19 season as clear favorites. Last season they defeated Brisbane Heat by 25 runs to win the trophy. They have international players like Alex Carey, Billy Stanlake, Rashid Khan and Ben Laughlin. Carey scored 443 runs last season for the Strikers. Rashid Khan was the top wicket-taker last season (18).
BBL is one of the most desired T20 Leagues
The BBL is considered as one of the most fascinating T20 leagues in the world. Several world class players have added their shine to the cash-rich league. Many players performing well here have gone on to play in the Indian Premier League as well.
