#GamingBytes: DICE gifts 2 new weapons to 'Battlefield 5' gamers
Battlefield V has amassed immense popularity in the gaming community, soon after its release. Now as the holiday season is descending upon us, the studio DICE is celebrating the festive Christmas cheer and is eager to share the happiness with its gamer base. To this effect, Battlefield V players are getting two new in-game weapons for free. Read all about it here.
Welcome Ribeyrolles 1918 assault rifle and the M1897 shotgun
The two weapons being introduced are the Ribeyrolles 1918 assault rifle and the M1897 shotgun. Unlike weapons tied to Chapter Events, or the recently released Silver Plated M1911 sidearm, these weapons do not need to be unlocked through in-game quests or through subscriptions. Simply logging in between December 18 and January 3 will make these weapons accessible from Company menu.
The class of the new guns
According to the developer, the Ribeyrolles 1918 will naturally belong to the Assault class of weapons since it is an assault rifle. The M1897 Shotgun, on the other hand, will be part of the Support class of weapons.
The developer speaks on the spirit of giving
"As the holiday season is closing in, so are good-old, awesome traits like kindness and generosity" said DICE. It noted how it saw this on its servers "as Buddy Revives were made and resources shared." As gamers constantly give to the developers, in the form of feedback, gameplay videos or art, DICE too decided to return the generosity this season, by giving the weapons.
How will the weapons function in the game?
Ribeyrolles 1918 is a Battlefield 1 weapon that is returning. It is the longest range assault rifle, and though it does not deal the highest damage, the bipod assures almost zero recoil. Thus, experienced players could go prone and use this as a sniper as well. M1897 is a World War I era shotgun. Its extremely powerful nature makes it deadly in close encounters.
