Batters to hit 5-plus sixes in an over twice (T20s)
West Indies' Kieron Pollard entered the record books by smashing five sixes in an over off Rashid Khan. Pollard's effort saw Southern Brave beat Trent Rockets at Utilita Bowl in The Hundred. The star all-rounder, who smashed 45(21), has also hit 6 sixes in an over in T20Is. Here are the batters who have hit at least 5 sixes in an over twice (T20s).
David Miller, the trendsetter
South African batter David Miller was the first to achieve this dual feat in T20 cricket. He smashed 5 sixes in an over for Dolphins against Titans in 2014, during the Ram Slam Challenge. Miller then repeated this feat in the 2017 T20I against Bangladesh in Potchefstroom. He slammed a 35-ball ton in that match, still the joint-fastest for a batter (full-member sides).
Dipendra Singh Airee's T20I exploits
Nepal's Dipendra Singh Airee has hit at least 5 sixes in an over on two occasions in T20Is. In a 2023 game against Mongolia, the Nepal batter dispatched five legal deliveries to as many sixes. Earlier this year, Airee became only the third batter to smash 6 sixes in an over (T20Is), doing so against Qatar in the ACC Men's Premier Cup match.
Pollard joins this elite list
Pollard has become only the third batter with this incredible record in T20 cricket. The Caribbean dasher took Rashid to cleaners in a set (five balls). He smashed a 21-ball 45 as Southern Brave beat Trent Rockets in the 2024 Hundred. In 2021, Pollard smashed 6 sixes in an over of Sri Lanka's Akila Dananjaya, who incidentally took a hat-trick in his previous over.
Pollard scripts history!
As per Cricket Statistician Kausthub Gudipati, Pollard has become the first full-member player to hit a maximum off every ball of same over twice in men's T20 cricket.
