Players with highest batting averages in Champions Trophy history
What's the story
The ninth edition of the ICC Champions Trophy will start on February 19, 2025.
This year's tournament will be co-hosted by Pakistan and the UAE.
Team India is one of the favorites for the tourney as they boast potent names across all departments.
Meanwhile, here we look at the batters with the highest batting averages in CT history (Minimum: 400 runs).
#1
Virat Kohli - 88.16
Virat Kohli has played 13 Champions Trophy matches and scored 529 runs in 12 innings, according to ESPNcricinfo.
His phenomenal batting average of 88.16 is the best among batters with at least 400 runs in the tourney.
Kohli has scored five half-centuries, which speaks volumes about his ability to perform under pressure.
In the 2017 edition, Kohli donned the captain's hat for the first time in an ICC event and led India to the finals.
#2
Shikhar Dhawan - 77.88
Former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan heads the list of top run-scorers for India in the ICC Champions Trophy.
He has scored 701 runs from just 10 matches at an average of 77.88 and strike rate of 101.59. This includes three tons and as many fifties.
Dhawan's performance played a key role in India's 2013 Champions Trophy win, where he was the top-scorer with 363 runs.
#3
Sourav Ganguly - 73.88
Another former left-handed opening batter, Sourav Ganguly, is third on this list with 665 runs from 11 innings in 13 matches at an average of 73.88 and a strike rate of 83.12.
Like Dhawan, the former opener also made three tons and as many fifties in the competition.
Ganguly was the captain of the Indian team that was named the joint-winners of the 2002 CT.
