Barcelona sign Coutinho from Liverpool in a record deal
Barcelona have finally got their man, Philippe Coutinho after agreeing to pay 160 million euros fee to Liverpool for the transfer of the Brazilian star. This is the biggest ever sale by a British club and the fee is also the highest ever paid by a Spanish club. It is the third highest transfer in the history of football, after Paris Saint-Germain forked out a world record €222 million to lure Neymar from Barcelona and €180 million to secure the services of French wonder boy Kylian Mbappe.

Was Coutinho a necessity for Barcelona?
Barcelona haven't really been able to cope up after losing Neymar last year to PSG. The Catalans will be hoping Coutinho will fill that void. Barcelona's core of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta are in their thirties and have already started showing signs of fatigue this season. Young Coutinho is expected to lighten that burden.

Philippe Coutinho arrived at Anfield in January 2013 from Inter Milan for just £8.5 million. Since then, he has gone on to score 54 goals for Liverpool and was arguably their best player. 25-year-old Coutinho ended his five-year stay with Liverpool with no silverware. He will definitely be missed in the English Premier League.
