Bangladesh achieve an amazing record versus West Indies
Bangladesh ended 2018 on a high as they sealed the first Test series win since 2014/15. Bangladesh defeated West Indies in the second Test to record their third successive Test match victory. Even though, the wins have come against Zimbabwe and West Indies, the Tigers have delivered all-round performances. Interestingly, in the second Test, Bangladesh emulated a 128-year old record. Here's more.
West Indies see all top five batsmen bowled by spinners
West Indies could only manage 111 and 213 in the two innings, after the Tigers had posted a mammoth total of 508/10. Notably, in the first innings, the top five West Indian batsmen were bowled out by spinners. The visitors were reduced to 29/5 as Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan led the way. With this, they equaled the record, held by Australia.
Bangladesh emulate record originally scripted in 1890
Bangladesh emulated a feat, that was last achieved 128 years back. This was only the second instance when the top five batsmen were bowled in a Test innings since 1890. Kraigg Brathwaite, Kieran Powell, Sunil Ambris, Roston Chase and Shai Hope were trumped. Before this, Australia had achieved this feat against England at The Oval in 1890
Bangladeshi batsmen contribute strongly
Earlier, Bangladesh scored 508 with Mahmudullah scoring a century. Even Shakib chipped in with a gritty 139-ball 80. Opener Shadman Islam gave the side a strong start with a knock of 76.
