Bangladesh vs India: Top five controversial moments
India have always enjoyed an edge in their clashes against Bangladesh. While Bangladesh did get the better of India on a few instances, India continue to dominate the Tigers, across the formats. However, there have been moments when bad blood spilled between the two sides, leading to on and off field controversies. And, here we take a look at such moments.
Fans cry foul about ICC being biased towards India
The 2015 World Cup quarter-finals saw Bangladesh being knocked out by India. While India were batting, a close waist height full-toss to Rohit Sharma was declared a no-ball. Further, Shikhar Dhawan's juggling catch to get rid of Mahmudullah was ruled out a legal dismissal. Though controversial but there was no foul play, yet Bangladeshi fans went on to blame the ICC for being biased.
The payback a year later
Some months later, India toured Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series. Surprisingly, Bangladesh came up with a thrilling performance to tame India. Following the victory, Bangladeshi media came up with various memes, including Indian players with half-shaved heads, and Mustafizur Rahman being the barber. Also, ahead of the Asia Cup final, a photo of Taskin Ahmed holding MS Dhoni's severed head shocked the fans.
Rubel Hossain messes with Virat Kohli
The opening game of the 2011 World Cup saw India watchfully taking on Bangladesh, as they had suffered an embarrassing loss in 2007 edition, leading to their exit. Meanwhile, as Kohli was playing his first World Cup match, young pacer Rubel Hossain decided to have a go at him. However, Kohli retaliated and was seen sledging Rubel, as the latter backed off calmly.
Dhoni elbows Mustafizur
There was also an incident involving Dhoni and pacer Mustafizur. On numerous instances, it was seen that Mustafizur was coming between the batsmen while they were running. At a point, he was standing in the way of Dhoni, as the latter elbowed him in the follow through to push him out of the way. As umpires intervened, Dhoni smiled to cool off the situation.
Mushfiqur Rahim celebrates India's loss
During the 2016 ICC World T20, India had beaten Bangladesh by a run in the Super 10, as they were knocked out. In the semis, India lost to Windies. Following India's loss, Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim took to Twitter to celebrate India's loss. This drew heavy criticism from Indian fans. However, Mushfiqur later apologized to the fans, besides stating that he was a Windies supporter.
