All-round India beat Bangladesh in their Champions Trophy opener: Stats
What's the story
Team India comprehensively beat Bangladesh by six wickets in the second match of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
The Men in Blue comfortably accomplished the 229-run target in Dubai thanks to a brilliant hundred from Shubman Gill.
Earlier in the game, Bangladesh posted a competitive total of 228/10 thanks to a record-breaking partnership between centurion Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali.
Mohammed Shami claimed a fifer.
Here are the key stats.
Bangladesh's innings
Hridoy, Ali rescue Bangladesh
Despite losing five wickets for a mere 35 runs, Bangladesh posted a competitive total of 228/ 10.
The turnaround was largely due to a monumental partnership between Hridoy and Ali.
The duo batted brilliantly in the middle overs and added 154 runs.
While Ali was dismissed for 68, Hridoy made a stunning hundred.
Shami claimed a fifer for India as Harshit Rana dismissed three batters.
Chase
Gill powers India to victory
Chasing 229, India started their innings on a strong note with openers Rohit Sharma and Gill stitching a 69-run partnership.
However, Rohit was dismissed for 41.
Though the likes of Virat Kohli (22), Shreyas Iyer (15), and Axar Patel (8) fell cheaply, Gill continued to hold one end.
Alongside KL Rahul (41*), he took India past the 200-run mark and completed his hundred during the course.
