Kanpur Test: Top-up Mominul helps Bangladesh post 233 (1st innings)
Bangladesh have been bowled out for 233 in the first innings of the ongoing second and final Test against hosts India in Kanpur. While Mominul Haque starred for the Tigers with an unbeaten 107, none of his teammates could even touch the 35-run mark. For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed three wickets. Here are further details.
Ton-up Mominul powers Bangladesh
Mominul, who arrived at number three, rescued Bangladesh, who were reeling at 29/2 batting first. He added 51 runs with skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (31) before the latter departed. Though Mominul didn't find a substantial partner thereafter, he continued to hold one end. Notably, Bangladesh were 107/3 at stumps on Day 1. The second and third days were abandoned.
A combined show from Indian bowlers
Pacer Akash Deep (2/43) removed both openers on Day 1. The likes of Ravichandran Ashwin (2/45) and Mohammed Siraj (2/57) also recorded two scalps apiece. Bumrah again starred with the ball, claiming 3/50 in 18 overs. Ravindra Jadeja (1/28) took the last wicket of the Bangladesh innings. He also completed 300 Test wickets with his only scalp.
