Skipper Shakib Al Hasan ruled out of the Nidahas Trophy
Bangladesh have been dealt with a huge blow after star all-rounder and T20 skipper, Shakib Al Hasan was ruled out of the upcoming Nidahas Trophy. The 30-year-old is nursing a finger injury and is unlikely to recover in time. Mahmudullah will lead the Bangladesh T20 team in Shakib's absence while Liton Das has been named his replacement.
Shakib's injury is taking more than expected time to recover
Shakib, who injured his little finger during the ODI series in January, had to sit out from the Test and T20 series against Sri Lanka last month. He also missed the Pakistan Super League due to the injury. The 30-year-old has consulted two orthopedists in Bangkok, and now it looks like his injury will take more time than expected.
Liton Das to replace Shakib
Shakib's replacement Liton Das has been in good form in the domestic List-A competition. Das has scored 386 runs in 5 innings which also includes two hundreds. Last year in the Bangladesh Premier League, he scored 261 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 124.88. Das is considered as the third wicket-keeper in the squad after Mushfiqur Rahim and Nurul Hasan.
