Bangladeshi cricketer Sabbir Rahman had eve teased Sania Mirza: Reports
Bangladeshi cricketer Sabbir Rahman could land in more trouble after reports stated that Pakistan's Shoaib Malik has filed a complaint against the 28-year-old. The reason for the same is that Sabbir had, allegedly, eve-teased Malik's wife and Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza, four years ago. The cricketer received backlash on social media after this report surfaced. Here's more on the same.
Reports claim that Sabbir had teased Sania on-field
Reports in Bangladesh stated that Malik has filed an official complaint to the chairman of Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis. The incident is believed to have happened 4 years ago during a cricket match. Malik complained that Sabbir teased Sania on the field during a domestic tournament, where the former had come to participate in. Sania had come to the field to encourage Malik.
Sabbir banned from international cricket for off-field issues
Sabbir has been omitted from the Bangladesh squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2018 to be held in UAE this month. Not only that, the BCB also handed him a six-month ban for repeated off-field issues. The latest fiasco was Sabbir threatening and abusing a cricket fan on Facebook. Sabbir had claimed his Facebook profile was hacked, but BCB paid no heed.
Troubles for Sabbir mount
The talented cricketer is already serving a punishment for assaulting a child during a First-class game, last December. The Facebook assault and eve teasing issues have now jeopardized his career. The Facebook incident had occurred during the second ODI between West Indies and Bangladesh recently. Sabbir's Facebook message contained abusive words and threats to physically harm the fan, who had made sarcastic comments.
Sabbir could be in for more trouble
It remains to be seen what action will be taken by BCB regarding the eve-teasing incident. Sabbir could be in for more lengthy ban. His repeated actions, off the field, might end his career.
