Bangladesh beat West Indies in second Test: Here're records broken
Bangladesh spinners dominated the show, once again, as they decimated West Indies in the second Test to seal the series 2-0. West Indies lost 20 wickets inside two days to see Bangladesh win the match by an innings and 184 runs. Shimron Hetmyer was the only West Indian batsman to show some character as Mehidy Hasan picked 12 wickets. Here are the records broken.
Bangladesh seal first Test series win since 2014-15
The Tigers have been below par in red ball cricket in the last couple of years. After suffering four successive Test losses in five matches in 2018, Bangladesh earned their third consecutive victory of the year. After drawing the two-match series against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh staged a comeback to win two successive Tests. This is Bangladesh's first Test series win since 2014-15.
Windies enduring a dismal period
This was the fourth Test loss in a row, for West Indies, on their Asian tour. After losing the Test series against India last month, West Indies suffered another series defeat. Further, this was their seventh consecutive loss across all the formats. With this defeat against Bangladesh, West Indies have now lost six consecutive series across all the three formats in 2018.
Bangladesh batsmen find their feet
For the third Test in a row, Bangladesh batsmen delivered the goods. Prior to the Test win against Zimbabwe, the Bangladeshis couldn't manage to get past 200-run mark across four Tests. After scoring 522/7 and 224/6 against Zimbabwe, they managed 324 in the first innings of the first Test against West Indies. In this Test, they managed to post a mammoth total of 508/10.
Mehidy Hasan shines for Bangladesh
Mehidy was the star performer in this match. He picked seven wickets in the first innings and followed it up with another five in the second and final innings. He ended up with figures of 12/117. This was his second ten wicket-haul in a Test match. His 7/58 is the best innings performance, by Mehidy, in a Test.
