Bangladesh local manager comes under BCCI ACU scanner: Details here
Hosts India annihilated visitors Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs in the first-ever Day-Night Test between the two sides at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. However, the Bangladesh team's local manager at the venue has apparently come under the scanner of the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Bangladesh manager broke protocol regarding usage of mobile phone
As per a report by IANS, it is being said that the local manager of the Bangladesh team at the stadium, Tapan Chaki, broke the protocol regarding the usage of mobile phones inside the dressing room. Chaki reportedly used a mobile phone inside the dressing room of the visiting team, despite having been warned before regarding the same and its consequences.
BCCI official reckons Chaki could be called for hearing
"The protocol is that the ACU officer on duty will report the matter and Chaki will be called for a hearing. If evidence is found against him, then the rest follows," a BCCI official was quoted as saying to IANS.
BCCI ACU's guidelines regarding usage of mobile phones
As per ICC and BCCI ACU's guidelines, referencing to Article 1.1.3, usage of mobile phones or any gadget with internet access is prohibited inside the stadium premises, prior to or during the course of the match, owing to fear of corruption and illegal betting activities.
Shakib Al Hasan suspended by ICC after breaking ACU protocol
It was just last month when the regular Bangladesh Test captain Shakib Al Hasan was suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaking an ACU protocol. Shakib, reportedly, had failed to report an approach for corruption to the ICC ACU officials, resulting in the breach of three charges of the ICC ACU code. As of now, Shakib is banned for two years.
How did the Day-Night Test pan out?
In the first innings, Bangladesh were bowled out for 106. Ishant dazzled with the pink ball and showed his prowess with a fifer. Notably, Indian pacers claimed all 10 wickets to continue their superb form. In reply, India declared at 347/9. Kohli amassed a 194-ball 136. Bangladesh missed the plot once again in the second innings as Ishant caused a top-order collapse.
