Bangladesh register maiden Test series triumph over Pakistan: Stats
Bangladesh have scripted history by registering their maiden Test series triumph over Pakistan. They clinched the series 2-0 after recording a six-wicket triumph in the second and final match in Rawalpindi. Mehidy Hasan Miraz put up an exceptional all-round performance as many of his teammates also contributed. Meanwhile, Zakir Hasan (40), Najmul Hossain Shanto (38), and Mominul Haque (34) starred in Bangladesh's 185-run chase.
How did the match pan out?
Pakistan posted 274 after electing to bat. Saim Ayub, Shan Masood, and Agha Salman scored fifties, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed 5/61. Bangladesh were 26/6 before Litton Das (138) and Mehidy (78) helped them reach 262. Khurram Shahzad claimed 6/90. Pakistan managed 172 in their second outing, with Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana sharing nine wickets. The Tigers comfortably chased down the 185-run target.
Masood raced past 1,800 Test runs
Masood batted with great intent and scored a 69-ball 57 in the first innings. The southpaw his 10th Test half-century before managing 28 in his second outing. With these knocks, Masood has raced to 1,883 runs from 35 Tests at 28.53. The tally includes four tons. As per ESPNcricinfo, he has completed 205 runs against Bangladesh at 41 (50: 1, 100: 1).
2nd Test fifty for Ayub
Saim Ayub also scored a fine half-century, 58 off 110 balls, in the first innings. He could only add 20 runs to his tally in the third innings. This was Ayub's second Test fifty as his maiden one came in the opener of the ongoing series. The 22-year-old has now raced to 168 runs across three Tests at 28.
Two fine knocks from Agha Salman
Agha Salman played two fine knocks as he scored a 95-ball 54 in the first innings and followed it up with an unbeaten 47 off 71 balls. The all-rounder has raced to 929 Test runs at 42.22. He has two tons besides seven fifties. 120 of his runs have come against Bangladesh at 40. He also took three wickets in the game.
Fifer for Mehidy
Mehidy finished with figures of 5/61 in the first innings. He went wicket-less in his other outing. The off-spinner has raced to 174 wickets at an average of 32.72. He has 10 five-wicket hauls and owns two 10-wicket hauls. Meanwhile, he has completed 72 away wickets at 42.55. 12 of his scalps have come against Pakistan at 29.16.
Second successive fifty for Mehidy
Mehidy also smoked a timely 124-ball 78 to help his side recover from a top-order collapse. This was Mehidy's second successive Test fifty as he made 77 in the series opener. He has raced to 1,625 Test runs at 22.56. Besides scoring eight fifties in this format, he has also slammed a solitary ton. Against Pakistan, he has accumulated 218 runs at 43.60.
Litton registered his second Test hundred against Pakistan
Litton recorded his second-highest score in Test cricket. He ended up scoring a 228-ball 138. As per ESPNcricinfo, Litton has now raced to 2,655 runs at 36.87, a tally that includes 17 half-centuries besides four tons. Against Pakistan, he has completed 480 runs across five matches at 60. This was his second Test ton against them as the tally also includes two fifties.
Historic partnership between Mehidy and Litton
Notably, Litton stitched a 165-run stand with Mehidy Hasan Miraz after the Tigers were reduced to 26/6. The duo became the first pair to add 150 runs for the seventh or lower wicket from a team total of under 50 runs (Tests). As per ESPNcricinfo, they also scripted Bangladesh's fourth-highest stand for the seventh wicket or lower in Tests.

As per ESPNcricinfo, Litton also became just the second Bangladesh player to complete 2,000 (now 2,088) Test runs as a designated wicketkeeper-batter. He joined his current teammate Mushfiqur Rahim, who has 3,515 runs in this regard. Three of Litton's four Test centuries have come as a designated keeper.
Khurram Shahzad's six-wicket haul rattled Bangladesh
Shahzad delivered a devastating spell and claimed his maiden Test fifer, finishing with 6/90 across 21 overs. He has raced to 14 wickets across three games at 24.85. Nine of his scalps came in the recent series at 24.44. The pacer claimed a solitary wicket in his second outing as well which propelled him to 150 First-Class wickets. The tally includes six fifers.
Mahmud recorded his maiden Test fifer
Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud registered his maiden five-wicket haul in Tests as Pakistan managed 172 in their second outing. The right-arm pacer bowled a lethal opening spell on Day 3 evening before continuing his heroics on Day 4. Mahmud finished with 5/43 across 10.4 overs. He went wicket-less in his first outing. He has now raced to 14 wickets across three Tests at 25.
Rana's four-fer left Pakistan reeling
While Mahmud took a fifer, seamer Nahid Rana perfectly assisted him with four wickets. The latter took four crucial wickets during the morning session on Day 4, leaving Pakistan struggling at 150/9 by lunch. He took the crucial wickets of Masood and Babar Azam. Rana finished with 4/44 across 11 overs. The 21-year-old has raced to 11 wickets across three Tests at 41.09.
Historic win for Bangladesh
Prior to this series, Bangladesh had never won a Test match against the Pakistan team. Pakistan won 12 of the 13 previous Tests against the Tigers (Draw: 1). They also clinched each of their five previous home games against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Pakistan have now gone 10 home Tests without a win. Masood has lost each of his first five Tests as captain.
