Babar Azam receives ICC T20I Team of the Year cap
What's the story
Pakistan's premier batsman Babar Azam has received the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's T20I Team of the Year cap for 2024.
The recognition comes just ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy and after he was named in the prestigious ICC T20I Team last month.
The ICC posted a video on Instagram of Azam receiving his cap, captioning it "The ICC T20I Team of the Year 2024 cap fits perfectly on Babar Azam."
Stellar record
Babar's impressive performance in 2024
Babar's brilliant 2024 also earned him a place in the ICC Men's T20I Team of the Year.
He scored a staggering 738 runs in 24 matches, including six fifties. His consistent and elegant batting made him Pakistan's mainstay.
Babar began the year with three back-to-back fifties against New Zealand, making him an indispensable part of Pakistan's top-order and one of the world's best cricketers in 2024.
Recent performance
Babar's form ahead of Champions Trophy
Despite his phenomenal record last year, Azam has been unable to keep up the consistency leading into the Champions Trophy.
In a tri-nation ODI series with New Zealand and South Africa, he could only score 62 runs from three matches at an average of 20.67.
As Pakistan gear up for their title defense on home soil, here's hoping Azam finds his top form and delivers for the team.
