India's all-format all-rounder, Axar Patel, smashed a superb 86-run knock on Day 1 of the Duleep Trophy 2024 encounter between India D and India C at the Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantapur. Ahead of India's Test series against Bangladesh, starting September 19, this was a superb effort from Axar, who is elevating his presence with consistency. Axar was the lone warrior for India D.

This was the southpaw's 19th fifty in First-Class cricket. He owns one ton. Notably, 646 of his runs in FC cricket have come for Team India in Tests at 35.88.

India D were bowled out for 164 by India C. India D managed to bat for 48.3 overs. Barring Axar, no other batter managed 15-plus runs for the side. For India C, Vijaykumar Vyshak was the pick of the bowlers (3/19).
