The Men in Blue will be 9 points behind Pakistan if they win by a 3-0 margin. Meanwhile, Australia will see themselves dropping down to sixth spot after a four-point deduction.
What will happen if India win series 2-1?
If India win the series 2-1, then they will be staying with 127 points and maintain the current gap with Pakistan. Further, a 1-2 loss for Aussies will see them hold on to their current position (4). But the hosts will end up losing one rating point and go down to 115 from 116.
What will happen if India lose series 1-2 or 0-3?
A 1-2 or a 0-3 series defeat for the visitors would keep them in tact at the second spot. However, Finch's side would gain one spot and see themselves climb up to the third position above England. They will gain two points to get to 119. India, on the other hand, would lose two points and come down to 125.

In case the series ends at 1-1, then the positions of the teams will remain the same. But India will lose one rating point and get to 126 points. Meanwhile, Australia will gain one to get closer to England.
