#IndiaInAustralia: Three key moments of Day two of fourth Test
Team India posted a mammoth 622/7 (declared) in the ongoing fourth Test against Australia at the SCG. Senior batsman Cheteshwar Pujara added 63 runs on Day two. He managed to score 193. Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant showed his value with a fluent 159*. Australia ended the day at 24/0. Here are the key things that defined today's play.
Indian batsmen pile on the misery for Australia
India resumed Day two with the score reading 303/4. Pujara and Pant played beautifully, before the former was out for 193. Pant rallied on with Ravindra Jadeja. The two players added 204 runs for the seventh wicket. For Australia, Nathan Lyon ended with four scalps.
Pujara shows character with traditional form of batting
Pujara showed a lot of precision and character to notch a special Test score outside the subcontinent. He spent a lot of time at the crease and that was beneficial. The 30-year-old managed to find the gaps with a lot of ease. He held on and went on to script several records. Pujara smashed 6 boundaries today. He was finally dismissed by Lyon.
Pant, Jadeja thrive on a flat pitch
Rishabh Pant scored his second Test career ton. The 21-year-old, who was managing to get consistent starts in this tour, finally broke the shackles and got to a big century. Pant's free-flowing cricket helped him to amass 159 runs on Day two. He hit 15 fours and a six. Jadeja needs to be credited for playing the support act with a knock of 81.
Tired Aussie bowlers produce a flat show
The Australian bowlers were kept in check by Pujara and the two left-handed batsmen for almost the entire day. The pacers often ran out of ideas and leaked runs. Mitchell Starc was off-color alongside Pat Cummins on a flat deck. Nathan Lyon took all the three wickets that fell today. He bowled a total of 57.2 overs over two days.
