#IndiaInAustralia: Rishabh Pant scripts new record to overtake Dhoni

    What's the story

Indian cricket team wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is only into his sixth Test.

The youngster, who made his debut against England earlier this year, has started to script some new feats in every other Test match.

Pant has overtaken legend MS Dhoni to script a special record in the ongoing first Test match against Australia in Adelaide.

    Here's more on the same.

    AUSvIND

Pant accounts for 6 dismissals to go past MS

Pant surpassed former Indian skipper Dhoni to account for the most number of dismissals by an Indian in Australia in a single Test innings.

Pant took six catches in the first innings to script this special record so early in his career.

MS had accounted for 5 dismissals on two occasions earlier in 2008 and 2014 respectively.

Now he sees his record broken.

    Lead

India take a 15-run lead after dismissing Aussies for 235

After India managed 250/10 in their first innings, the Aussies were then bowled out for 235.

The hosts, who managed 191/7 on Day 2, went on to add 44 runs today.

Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin picked three wickets each.

Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami picked two wickets each, as Indian pacers accounted for seven scalps in the first innings.

    Info

Pant has 26 catches in Tests so far

Pant scored a 38-ball 25 in the first innings and was eventually out after edging a ball to keeper Tim Paine.

He will need to show his mettle with both bat and behind the stumps to help India win this Test.

The youngster is playing his 6th Test match and he already has 26 catches to his name, besides two stumpings.

    Records

Pant had broken these records earlier in Tests

Earlier, Pant also broke Dhoni's record to have the most number of runs, by an Indian wicket-keeper, after five Tests.

Pant had managed 346 runs after 5 Tests.

Meanwhile, MSD had scored 297 runs.

Against West Indies in October, Pant became only the second Indian to get out in the 90s in successive Test innings.
