Indian cricket team opening batsman Mayank Agarwal set proceedings alive at the MCG in the ongoing third Test against Australia. Mayank scored a defiant 76 on Day one. He hit eight fours and a six. Agarwal breaks this 71-year-old record
The right-handed batsman surpassed the record held by former Indian cricketer Dattu Phadkar. Dattu had scored an impressive 51 on his debut versus Australia in the year 1947. Hrishikesh Kanitkar (45) and Abid Ali (33) are next on the list. Agarwal saw a 71-year-old record broken in the MCG Test. This is indeed a special knock by the 27-year-old.
Mayank part of two constructive stands
Mayank deserved this chance in the third Test. He has been in scintillating form in domestic cricket. And this innings will please both the player and the management. He added 40 runs for the first wicket alongside Hanuma Vihari. Mayank then stitched another 83 runs for the second wicket with the in-form Cheteshwar Pujara.
