#IndiaInAustralia: Australia beat India in second Test- Here're records broken
Australia handed a mammoth loss to India in the second Test match of the four-match series held in Perth. With this victory, Tim Paine's side equalled the series at 1-1. Needing 287 runs to win, the visitors were rocked throughout the chase and were eventually bundled out for a paltry score of 140. Here are the records broken.
India suffer seventh Test loss in 2018
This was India's seventh Test match loss outside the subcontinent in 2018. Further, this was the 13th Test loss for the visitors while chasing a 200+ run target in the last 10 years.
Lyon terrific with the ball once again
Nathan Lyon now has the joint-most number of wickets this year in Test cricket (48). His heroics in the first innings helped the Aussie spinner script his seventh five-for against India. He has now equalled former Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan. The spinner has a total of 16 wickets in this Test series and leads the show.
Shami bowled his heart out in Perth
Mohammed Shami picked six wickets in this Test. With this, he now has 44 Test scalps this year. He is India's leading wicket-taker. Shami's 6/56 is now the 4th best bowling performance by an Indian pacer in Tests in Australia. Since Ishant Sharma in 2011, this is the first time that an Indian pace bowler has taken 40+ wickets in a calendar year.
Lyon's brilliance and Rahul's despair
KL Rahul has been bowled out seven times in his last 11 Test innings. He equalled Sunil Gavaskar's record of being bowled most times in both the innings of a Test (3). Lyon dismissed Virat Kohli for the 7th time in international cricket. Lyon has taken most wickets against India in Tests in Australia. He eclipsed Brett Lee's tally of 45 wickets.
11th century for Kohli this year
Kohli slammed fourth century against Australia in their own backyard. He equalled former West Indies star Clive Lloyd for most number of centuries by visiting captains in Tests in Australia. He scored his 25th Test ton in this Test. Kohli also registered 11th century in 2018. Last year too, Kohli had amassed 11 tons. He needs one more ton to equal Tendulkar's record (12).
