2nd T20I, Australia beat Pakistan: Here are the records broken
Steve Smith was at his absolute best in the second T20I against Pakistan to help Australia go 1-0 up. The first T20I didn't have a result after rain played spoilsport. The Aussies need another victory to wrap up the three-match series. Australia chased down a target of 151 in style with Smith scoring 80*. Here are the records broken.
How did the match pan out?
Pakistan managed 150/6 after Babar Azam (50) and Ifthikar Ahmed (62*) notched impressive fifties. They were reeling at 70/4 at one stage. However, Ifthikar's 34-ball knock got them to a reasonable score. Ashton Agar (2/23) was top notch. In reply, Australia were 48/2 with both openers back in the hut. Smith played a powerful knock to floor the Pakistan cricket team.
Babar Azam slams 12th career T20I fifty, Ifthikar shines
World number one T20I batsman Azam slammed his 12th career ODI fifty. He is averaging 51.81 in T20Is. This innings came at the back of an unbeaten 59 in the first match. He also raced to 1,399 runs in just 35 games. This was also his fourth career T20I fifty against the Aussies. Meanwhile, Ifthikar managed his maiden T20I fifty in his fifth match.
Smith notches a host of records
Smith was a different breed and amassed a 51-ball 80*. This was his fourth career T20I fifty. He hit 11 fours and a six. Smith also went past 50 fours in T20Is (53). Smith surpassed the 500-run mark in T20Is (577). He became the ninth Aussie batsman to get past this feat. This was his second T20I fifty in 2019.
Amir surpasses these two bowlers in terms of T20I wickets
Pat Cummins (1/19) raced to 32 career T20I scalps for Australia. Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir (1/32) now has 59 career T20I scalps. He went past Kevin O'Brien and Nathan McCullum (58 wickets each).
