Abbott bowls SA to series victory against Australia
South Africa registered an innings and 80 runs win over Australia at Hobart as pacers Kyle Abbott and Kagiso Rabada destroyed the hosts taking six and four wickets respectively. On the fourth day of the test, Australia was bowled out for 161 runs with Usman Khawaja scoring 64 runs. The visitors have also won the three match series with one more test to play.
Australia look to level series in the second test
Australia took on South Africa in the second test of the three-match series at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart from 12 November. With a massive 177-run victory at Perth in the first test, South Africa have their noses up high and with Australia's poor form, the Proteas would want to win the second test match and the series.
Peter Siddle ruled out of second test
Australian pacer Peter Siddle who made a comeback after eight months in the first test, has been ruled out of the second test because of his back injury.
Philander demolished Australia in first innings
Vernon Philander took five wickets as he demolished the Australian side for 85 runs on day one of first innings at Hobart. Kyle Abbott took three wickets. Steven Smith remained the highest run scorer for the hosts at 48 runs. In reply, South Africa scored 171 runs losing five wickets with a lead of 86 runs as the day ended.
Australia's lowest scores in 32 years
Australia's 85 runs in the first innings against South Africa was the team's lowest score in the last 32 years. The last time Australia scored below 90 was in 1984 against West Indies at Perth.
Day 3 highlights
South Africa started day three at 171 for five after second day's play was abandoned due to heavy rains. Quinton de Kock scored 104 runs, the visitors put on 326 runs on board in the first innings. Josh Hazlewood took six wickets for Australia. In the second innings, Australia ended the day with 121 runs for two wickets; trailing by 120 runs.
