Australia finally win an ODI: Here're the records broken
Australia beat South Africa by 7 runs in the second ODI match and equal the 3-match series at 1-1. Finch (41), Lynn (44) and Carey (47) chipped in to help Australia post a competitive total of 231. The Proteas, in reply, could manage only 224/9. This is the first win for Aussies in 8 ODIs. Here is the list of all the records broken.
Aussies win after seven consecutive losses
Australia finally won an ODI match after seven consecutive defeats. The hosts managed a victory after 287 days, as far as ODIs are concerned. Prior to this match, Australia had lost 17 out of the last 21 ODIs. Adelaide Oval has been a happy hunting ground for Australia and this was their four consecutive win here in ODIs and a second in 2018.
Australia finally beat SA after six straight losses
Australia finally beat Proteas after six consecutive losses against them in ODI cricket. Australia's last win over South Africa in an ODI came back in June 2016. Last year, the Proteas had won the ODI series at home 5-0.
Carey top scores for Australia, Steyn puts up a show
Australia saw few of their players provide the base and get off to a fine start, but none of them could go on to transform it into big innings. Alex Carey was the top scorer with 47. For the visitors, fast bowler Dale Steyn was terrific yet again (2/31). But the pick of the bowlers, for South Africa, was Dwaine Pretorius (3/32).
SA fall short after Aussie bowlers run the show
Australia were terrific and snatched the momentum from South Africa in the second innings. The pacers, in particular, were superb with the trio of Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins picking 5 wickets between them. Aussies got quick wickets, before SA fought back with Faf du Plessis (47) and David Miller (51). But once Faf fell, the SA batting unit fell short from there on.
