Aaron Finch now has the most ODI runs in 2019 (977). The opening batsman smashed his third century this year. Finch now has 623 runs for the Aussies in World Cup cricket. This was his highest World Cup score and a second century in the coveted event. Finch also registered his 14th career ODI ton. It was also his second 150-plus score in 2019.
Finch the highest run-scorer in World Cup 2019
Finch has the most runs in CWC 19 (343). He became the first batsman to surpass the 300-mark in World Cup 2019. This was his third score of 50-plus in the ongoing tourney as well. He equalled Jason Roy for the highest individual score in 2019 World Cup (153). David Warner (26) now has 281 runs in CWC 19 and is only behind Finch.

Steve Smith goes past Shane Watson with this record
Finch has amassed 4,395 career ODI runs. He surpassed former Aussie Geoff Marsh (4,357) in terms of career ODI runs. Steve Smith (73) registered his 22nd career ODI fifty. This was Smith's seventh career World Cup fifty. He went past Shane Watson (643) in terms of World Cup runs (698). He achieved this mark in his 15th World Cup inning.

Finch scripted the third highest individual score at The Oval. This is also the highest score by an Australia batsman here. Australia's score of 334/7 is the seventh highest team total at The Oval. This was Australia's third score of 300-plus at this venue.
Karunaratne slams fourth highest CWC score by a Lankan skipper
Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne (97) amassed his highest career ODI score. The 31-year-old smashed his second fifty-plus score in the ongoing World Cup. This was the fourth highest score by a Sri Lankan captain in World Cup history. Sanath Jayasuriya (120) versus NZ in 2003, Mahela Jayawardene 115* versus NZ in 2007 and Kumar Sangakkara (111) versus NZ in 2011 are placed above him.
Openers have a solid outing at The Oval
Karunaratne and Kusal Perera (52) added 115 runs for the first wicket. This was the seventh century-plus stand for Lanka in the Cricket World Cup. It was also the sixth highest stand for the opening wicket in terms of runs. Earlier, Warner and Smith added 80 runs for the first wicket for Australia. This was their 13th 50-plus partnership score in ODIs.
Starc impresses with the ball once again
Mitchell Starc (4/55) now has the most wickets in the ongoing Cricket World Cup (13). He also equalled Brett Lee in terms of World Cup wickets by an Aussie (35). Starc now has 158 career ODI scalps. Starc also picked up his fourth four-wicket haul in the World Cup. Pat Cummins extended his tally for the most ODI wickets in 2019 (28).
How did the match pan out?
Aussies got off to a cautious start and laid the platform. Finch and Smith then attacked the Lankans with a solid partnership of 173 runs for the third wicket. That helped Aussies race away, before Lanka hit back at the death with wickets. In reply, Lanka kept up with the rate, but lost their way in the middle overs. Starc was amazing for Australia.
