Finch also smashed his third career World Cup century and 15th in total. He now has 776 World Cup runs for Australia. The opening batsman became the first player to register four ODI tons in 2019.
Warner first batsman to reach 500-run mark in CWC 19
David Warner (53) became the first batsman to reach the 500-run mark in CWC 19. The leading run-scorer hit his fifth fifty-plus score in the ongoing World Cup. Warner now has 20 career ODI fifties under his belt. The southpaw became only the eighth player to get past 800 World Cup runs for Australia (845). He went past former Aussie international David Boon (815).
Finch joins an elite list
Finch and Warner smash this World Cup record
Finch and Warner added 123 runs for the first wicket. This was their third century-plus stand in the ongoing World Cup. Earlier, they had registered 100-plus stands against Pakistan and Bangladesh. The two batsmen became the first opening combination in World Cup history to hit five successive fifty-plus partnerships. This was their eighth century-plus stand in ODIs. They have 2,768 runs as a pair.

Run-out of Marcus Stoinis was the sixth for Australia in CWC 19. Jofra Archer now has 16 wickets in CWC 19. This is the joint-best by an England bowler in World Cup history. Ian Botham took 16 scalps in 1992. Jason Behrendorff amassed his best figures in ODI cricket (5/44). He became the fifth bowler to take a five-wicket haul in 2019 World Cup.
Starc registers some fascinating records
Mitchell Starc now has 19 wickets in 2019 World Cup. This is the highest tally so far. Starc raced to 41 career World Cup wickets. He got past former South African legend Allan Donald (38) in terms of career World Cup wickets. Starc became only the fifth pacer and the second Australian to take 15-plus wickets across ODI World Cups.
Brilliant Stokes hits third fifty-plus score in CWC 19
Ben Stokes (89) scored his third fifty-plus score in CWC 19. The all-rounder went past the 500-run mark in ODIs this year and became the sixth Englishman to do so. This was his 18th career ODI fifty. Stokes also registered the third highest individual score for England against Australia in an ODI World Cup match after Kevin Pietersen and James Taylor.

Australian openers laid the perfect foundation with both Finch and Warner producing substance. Finch and Usman Khawaja added another 50-run stand. Post that, the Aussies kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Alex Carey's unbeaten 38 helped them get to 285/7. In reply, England lost quick wickets, before Stokes and Buttler brought some comfort. Stokes rallied on, but Starc's yorker sealed the deal for Australia.
