Mitchell Johnson suffers gruesome head injury while training
Former Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson got himself injured during a gym session. Johnson, who revealed the news in his Instagram post, suffered the injury when he accidentally smacked his head against the chin-up bar, leading to as many as 16 stitches and a nasty cut. The pace man is due to play for Kolkata Knight Riders in the 11th edition of IPL.
Mitchell Johnson's international career stats
Mitchell Johnson's international career with Australia lasted for about a decade. The left-arm fast bowler made his debut in an ODI against New Zealand in December 2005 and ended his career with a Test against the Black Caps in November 2015. During his time, he was a part of 73 Tests and 153 ODIs where he picked 313 and 239 wickets respectively.
Regular at T20 domestic leagues post retirement
After retiring from international cricket, Johnson has remained an active part of domestic T20 leagues including the Big Bash League and Indian Premier League. In IPL, he has represented Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians. In 2018, he was bought by KKR for Rs. 2cr.
Will this add to KKR's injury woes?
As it stands, key KKR players Chris Lynn and Andre Russell remain injured and the possibility of their return for the IPL 2018 is unknown. While Lynn suffered a shoulder injury, Russell pulled his right hamstring and was ruled out of ongoing PSL. Adding to this, Johnson's injury could be a big blow for Kolkata, if he doesn't recover in time.
