ATP Finals: Can Federer win his 100th career title?
Swiss ace Roger Federer is stranded on 99 career titles and a trophy away from registering a record triple figure mark. Federer recently lost the Paris Masters semis against world number one Djokovic and the Serbian stands in his way once again, as the ATP World Tour Finals is set to begin. Can Federer find a way and reign supreme?
Federer, Djokovic likely to qualify from their groups
Federer and Djokovic have 34 Slam titles between them, they will battle it out in the season-ending event at London's O2 arena. The ATP Finals will see six other singles players in fray. Federer's group features the likes of Kevin Anderson, Dominic Thiem and Nishikori. Djokovic is, meanwhile, pitted against Alexander Zverev, Marin Cilic and John Isner.
Onus on Djoker and Federer in absence of Rafa
Several top stars including the likes of Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Juan Martin del Potro will be missing the event. This has taken the shine away from this year's tournament. All eyes now will be on Federer and Djokovic to come out strong.
Federer not concerned about pressure of 100th title
Federer, who has 6 ATP Finals titles hasn't won the event since 2011. "I don't think it matters really where I win my 100th as long as it's going to happen at one point," said Federer. He had an excellent 2017 where he bagged 7 titles including two Slams. 2018 has been a mixed year which saw him win the Australian Open.
Djokovic to end year as the world number one
Djokovic leads Federer 25-22 in their career meetings. His two wins against Roger, this year, will keep him in a confident mood. Djokovic had slipped to 22nd in the rankings in May. But since his win at the Wimbledon, the Serb has been at another level. He is set to end the year as the men's world number one.
"It has been a perfect 5 months", says Djoker
"I just thought at the time it might take more time than I wished it to be. It turned to out to be a perfect five months of the year, with two Grand Slam titles," Djokovic said in the press conference in London.
