Asitha Fernando claims four-wicket haul versus England in 1st Test
Sri Lanka pacer Asitha Fernando was the pick of the bowlers for his side in the first Test against England in Manchester. Fernando picked up four wickets as England finished their first innings on 358 after Sri Lanka scored 236. England resumed Day 3 on 259/6 and managed another 99 runs. Fernando, who took three wickets on Thursday, picked one more on Friday.
Four wickets for Fernando
Fernando dismissed Ben Duckett early on, trapping the southpaw leg before wicket. A back of a length delivery saw Ollie Pope get dismissed in the 9th over. Joe Root then went for a drive to be caught out. Fernando broke an important stand. Fernando bowled 14 overs for his three scalps (68 runs). On Day 3, he removed Mark Wood to complete a four-fer.
