Asian Games gold medalist Vinesh Phogat gets engaged at airport
Having won a historic gold medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta, wrestler Vinesh Phogat was on her way home when something special happened. The wrestler landed at the Delhi airport on Saturday, which happened to be her 24th birthday, and was greeted by her long-time boyfriend who gifted her an engagement ring. Vinesh and her boyfriend go back seven years
Vinesh and her boyfriend, Somveer Rathi, a former national-level wrestler, have known each other for over seven years. Earlier, Vinesh had posted a photo with Somveer, with the caption, "The best decision I ever made! Glad you pinned me for life." After their engagement, the duo were greeted with cheers from family, and all the fans that had come to receive the wrestler.

Vinesh received an enthusiastic welcome from fans, having become the first Indian woman wrestler to win a gold at the Asian Games. She had thrashed her Japanese opponent, Yuki Irie, 6-2 to win the gold. She emerged from the airport with the tricolor wrapped around her shoulders, and her family distributed sweets to the cheering fans and supporters.
