MS Dhoni is the go-to man for everyone: Rayudu
India open their Asia Cup 2018 campaign against Hong Kong on Tuesday and that is followed by a clash against arch-rivals Pakistan, the next day. Rohit Sharma is set to lead the side after the selectors decided to rest Virat Kohli. However, former India skipper MS Dhoni is there to help the young side. This is what Ambati Rayudu had to say about MS.
Rayudu praises Dhoni and says he is the go-to man
With India missing skipper Virat, comeback man Rayudu feels there is enough quality in the side to win the continental honors. He praised MS Dhoni saying he is the go-to man. "He has been India's captain and always been the go-to man for everybody in the team. He has helped me a lot in terms of how I recovered this season."
Dhoni's calm is a positive factor
Dhoni has always been an influential figure and in recent past, he has become more of a guiding light for the ODI squad. One can expect Dhoni to help Rohit on the field, like he assists Kohli in almost every game. With more that 10,000 runs to his name, Dhoni could be India's vital cog in UAE.
Big series for the experienced MS Dhoni
Dhoni is also the most experienced player in the team as far as the Asia Cup is concerned. He has played 13 Asia Cup matches, which is the joint-highest for a captain alongside former Sri Lankan skipper Arjuna Ranatunga. This is a big series for MS, who is still carrying the burden of unnecessary criticism, he received during the tour of England.
MS brings in the stability in middle order
Dhoni will be looking to bat high up the order and get maximum exposure. With Kohli not there, the middle order looks a bit unsure at the moment and that's where someone like MS comes in. In the match against Pakistan, the Indian team will need their evergreen hero to make an impact. And when the going gets tough, MS is there to rescue.
