Injured Hardik Pandya ruled out of Asia Cup 2018
Hardik Pandya's participation in the Asia Cup 2018 has come to an end as the all-rounder was ruled out of the tournament with a lower back injury. Pandya suffered the blow in the match against Pakistan while bowling. He was stretchered off the field and straightaway, headed for medical examination. It has been learnt that Deepak Chahar will replace Pandya in the squad.
How did he sustain injury?
Pandya was into his 5th over, when after completing the follow through, the all-rounder immediately felt his lower back and fell on the ground. He laid on the pitch under considerable pain as players rushed to check the situation. The medical team then came in and stretchered him off after he was unable to get back on his feet.
A look at Chahar who is set to replace Pandya
Pacer Deepak Chahar is set to land in the UAE on Thursday as stated by a BCCI official. Chahar has played just a solitary T20I for India. He was a part of the India A squad for the quadrangular series. The Rajasthan cricketer will now miss the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He excelled, this year, in the IPL and picked 10 wickets.
In-form Chahar could make ODI debut for India
Chahar picked 10 wickets in 4 games in the tri-series in England for the India A team. He had also replaced injured Jasprit Bumrah in the T20I squad for the series against England. He could be making his ODI debut in the Super Four of the Asia Cup. India's next game is against Bangladesh on Friday at 5:00 PM IST.
