Ashton Turner ruled out with a broken finger: Details here
Australian all-rounder Ashton Turner has been ruled out for four to six weeks after sustaining a broken finger during training at the Marsh Cup. The injury has, in all likelihood, ruled him out for the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, starting October 27. He could also be out of action for the home series against Pakistan, starting November 2. Here is more.
Turner sustains fracture to his right index finger
"Ashton sustained a fracture to his right index finger at training this week. After reviewing the injury with specialists, he will require a period of approximately four-six weeks before being able to return to play," said Nick Jones, WACA medicine manager of sports science.
Turner made tremendous impact during India tour
The news comes as a big blow to Australia, as Turner had made a grave impact, especially during their India tour, earlier this year. He had the second-best average in the ODIs for Aussies in the series, scoring 125 runs in three matches at a brilliant average of 62.50, including a half-century. He helped Australia pull off their record ODI chase in the series.
Turner yet to make his presence felt in T20Is
While the ODI series against India was his debut series as he has played just the three ODIs to date with a commendable performance, he is yet to make an impact in T20Is. To date, he has played just five matches, scoring mere 18 runs, besides claiming three wickets. However, he delivered an amazing performance in the 50-over games, in the ongoing Marsh Cup.
Turner had a woeful start to his IPL campaign
Turner's grey patch continued even in IPL. He was picked up by the Rajasthan Royals for his base price of Rs. 50 lakh. Notably, in five T20s (including 3 IPL matches) he was dismissed for a duck, making him the first one to do so.
