Australia vs England: Records broken during the 4th Ashes Test
Australia remain unbeaten in the Ashes series after toiling for a draw in the 4th Test. The match ended with England not getting a chance to play their second innings as they couldn't manage to bowl out the hosts. Steve Smith, once again, led the Aussies with his heroics to maintain a series lead of 3-0. Here are the records broken during the Test.
Steve Smith, in a league of his own
Throughout the Ashes series, Steve Smith, with his performances, proved why he is the best in business. As he went on to score yet another 100 in the 2nd innings today, Smith became the third quickest player to reach the 23-Test hundred milestone, doing so in 110 innings. Only Sir Don Bradman (59) and Sunil Gavaskar (109) are ahead of him.
Smith continues to add to his records
Steve Smith has 15 centuries in his 30 Tests as Australia's captain, third most by a captain in history, at level with Allan Border and Steve Waugh, and behind only Graeme Smith (25), and Ricky Ponting (19). With 1,305 Test runs, he is the leading run-getter in 2017, scoring 6 tons in the 11 matches, once again the most Test centuries scored this year.

With 604 runs in 4 Tests, Steve Smith has the most runs in the 2017-18 Ashes series. His scores in the series are - 141*, 40, 6, 239, 76, 102*.
Alastair Cook's double century and more
Alastair Cook played a significant role in steering England towards a strong position in their first innings. With his 244*, he has the highest score by a batsman in 2017. With 11,956 Test runs, Cook is now the 6th highest run-getter in Tests. With two double centuries, he is second on the list for most double tons in Australia alongside Brian Lara.
6000 runs for Warner, 100 wickets for Anderson
During the match, David Warner notched up his 21st Test century reaching 6,000-run milestone in the process. James Anderson now has 100 Test wickets in Ashes, the eighth Englishman to achieve this. Alastair Cook has the unique achievement of carrying the bat at the MCG and his 244* is the highest individual score by a player carrying his bat through a Test innings.
