US Open 2024: Aryna Sabalenka reaches fourth successive semi-final
Women's singles second seed Aryna Sabalenka reached the 2024 US Open semi-final after beating Zheng Qinwen. In what was a rematch of the 2024 Australian Open final, Sabalenka beat Qinwen 6-1, 6-2 in over an hour. Sabalenka has qualified for her fourth back-to-back semi-final at the US Open. As per WTA, she now has a 9-1 win-loss record in Grand Slam quarter-finals.

Sabalenka won a total of 60 points and 16 winners throughout the match. Qinwen served five aces compared to Sabalenka's three. The latter had a win percentage of 73 and 53 in the first and second serves, respectively. Sabalenka won 21 of her 43 receiving points and converted four of her eight break points. Qinwen recorded 20 unforced errors and three double-faults.
Sabalenka matches Serena Williams's streak
As per WTA, Sabalenka has become the first woman to reach four consecutive US Open semi-finals since Serena Williams, who made it to six back-to-back semis between 2011 and 2016.

"If you get to the Top 5 level, anyway, everyone will take you as a favorite. But as I always say, it's not about being favorite, it's about how hard you're ready to fight for it," Sabalenka said after the match. "I'm really glad they take me as a favorite, and I'll do my very best to hold this beautiful trophy."
