Duleep Trophy: Arshdeep Singh claims career-best 6/40 for India D
Arshdeep Singh delivered a remarkable performance in the 3rd round of the Duleep Trophy 2024, leading India D to a consolation win against India B at Rural Development Trust Stadium B, Anantapur. His First-Class career-best figures of 6/40 were instrumental in this 257-run victory. India B collapsed for just 115 runs in their chase of a 373-run target. Arshdeep and Thakare dismantle India B's batting order
Arshdeep was not alone in his bowling prowess. He was ably supported by Vidarbha pacer Aditya Thakare, who claimed four wickets for 59 runs. Together, they dismantled India B's batting lineup within just 22.2 overs. Arshdeep produced a match haul of 9/90, including the crucial wicket of Suryakumar Yadav twice. He claimed 3/50 from 18 overs in the first innings and then backed it up with 6/40 from 11.3 overs. Meanwhile, Thakare claimed six scalps in the contest.
Reddy's resistance and Bhui's batting brilliance
Despite the bowling onslaught, India B's all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy showed resilience by remaining unbeaten on 40. However, his efforts were not enough to prevent a 257-run defeat for his team. On the other side, Ricky Bhui was named Player of the Match for his outstanding batting performance. He scored an unbeaten 119 in the second innings and 56 in the first, helping India D recover from a precarious position at 18/3 in their second innings.
